Tetra is a permanent installation created to be a beacon for the front entrance of the Siena Suwanee Town Center in Suwanee, GA. The project is an assembly of tetrahedral pyramids stacked upon each other to reach a human scale. Each of the pyramids has a reflective dichroic film that reflects and refracts the light in a multitude of ways. This gives the person passing by a unique perspective of the space as they move around the piece. This project aimed to create a piece that allowed people to play with the reflection and refraction of light through their movement and the angle at which they view or photograph the work. We want the piece to spark spontaneous conversation and engagement through its manipulation of light. So the installation is not just a background for a selfie but a hub for community activity and social interaction through the play of light.
We worked with Terwillinger Pappas Contracting to create a piece that fit the theme of the building's focus on the sun. This helped drive us to create a piece that would begin to manipulate the light and create not just a sculpture for the building but a piece that people could engage with and share as a landmark and identity for their building.
