Ambient play was a temporary installation focused on sight, sound, and touch to create a unique playable experience in an empty store front. We collaborated with artists Sebastian Coolidge and Justin Wagher to create an interactive mural on the walls. Along with the mural was two ping pong tables and moveable seating. The space was designed to become a communal hub in an area where people were disconnected from one another. We used touch sensor technology and conductive paint from Bare Conductive to create a mural that played sounds when touched.

We hosted a series of pop-up ping pong tournaments and other activities within the space. Toward the end of the installation, visitors were encouraged to color in the black and white paintings similar to a coloring book with giant crayons. The installation showcased how unused space could be utilized in playful ways to create more communal interaction, which drove up visitors to the entire shopping area.
